Istanbul Municipality Cartoon and Humor Museum
Open to the public since 1989 and housed in the Gazanfer Aga Medrese, this municipal museum contains original work of many Turkish cartoonists, a collection of Turkish and international periodicals, as well as book on cartoons and humor.
Caricature museum which was first opened in 1975 at Tepebasi thanks to the efforts of the Caricaturist Association and Municipality of Istanbul now enjoys its new location in a beautiful historic building of Gazanferaga Complex at Sarachane district of Istanbul. This above mentioned complex which consists of a religious school, a shrine and fountain was restored to its former glory to serve as museum. Reopened in 1989, the museum houses a vast collection of cartoons and satirical works and serves as host for many cartoon exhibits.
